Symbol of faith, mysticism and tradition of Bahia, the ribbon of Bonfim (in Portuguese Fita do Bonfim) have became design items in the hands of the Brazilian designer Nea Santtana. A rainbow of bright colors, the ribbons are known as good luck charms and, in popular folklore, is wrapped around the wrist and secured with three knots. At each knot corresponds a desire that must be kept in secret until the bracelet breaks and the wishes will come true. Another interesting and barely unknown thing about this Brazilian symbol is that colors correspond to the “Orixás”, African divinities connected to the strengths of nature. In her creations Nea includes the ribbons of Bonfim in a contrast of colors and shapes, painting with grace and beauty the warmth of the Brazilian culture.
