The second project that I introduce today is “Mokka Hokka”, the stool created by architect and designer
Yvonne Kreithner in collaboration with Lorenz Sternbach, presented in the South Tyrol pavillion at
100%Design during the
London Design Festival 2013. An iconic piece of furniture that through a creative and playful review recalls the characterizing geometries and the distinctive design of the “Moka”, the coffee pot designed by Alfonso Bialetti in 1933 capable of giving rise to what the connoisseurs call the “coffee for excellence”, not just a drink but a real ritual, with its preparation, technique and attention to detail. A stool consisting of a metal structure with an octagonal base handcrafted in Italy and a comfortable seat upholstered with Tyrol fabrics and patterns. An object that re-lives with nostalgia in a furnishing solution that fits the shape to a new function, creating an original and timeless complement, ready to become a cult pop culture piece in the world.
