Sometimes you have to take a plane, fly for an hour and go to a big trade show to discover small and ambitious realities that were just around the corner. In my weekend spent at “
Who’s Next” I met “
Knob Musician Design“, a project started in 2007 by Knob Ink studio, initially as a collaboration with local DJs and musicians, to transform over time into a real brand. As Roberto, the sales manager, told me, often their brand is associated with the North European design, especially for the minimal and clean lines, but the designers are keen to emphasize their Italian character, keeping all production strictly indoor, adding on each garment the detail of a small flag, and calling their pieces only with the names, engraved on major labels with striking graphics, “il parka” or “la cartella” (the satchel). The fall/winter 2013 collection presented in Paris, introduces innovative and original elements, like the denim parka or the quilted female version with collar, while maintaining the essential characteristics that distinguish their work.
