It’s nice (and rare) to find a design studio which is eco-friendly, durable and local. Especially when they state that in their product one won’t find any traces of glue, plastic or paint. And not to mention that they invest in local know-how in order to share the local tradition. I’m talking about
Gdesign, a Luxembourgish design studio that really impressed me. I think that they did a great job combining pure ideals and principles while at the same time creating beautiful, simple and useful everyday objects. Like their coat rack, or the radio, completely made of wood. I fell in love with Tria table and Gos gas hob, realized of casted iron – a local heritage of the region. The gas hob is special because it’s a project that aims to be durable and to make our way of cooking more eco-friendly. And it is also convenient, considering the longevity casted iron has. As the designer’s grandmother said: “I’m too poor to buy cheap things that break after one day”. And would you disagree with her?
