Elizabeth Meiklejohn wood dress

Mar 11 2013, 2:30 pm 0 Monica Bogliolo

A project that expertly mixes fashion and design, developed and manufactured by Elizabeth Meiklejohn, junior in Apparel Design at the Rhode Island School of Design. Eclectic designer, Elizabeth loves to experiment in the creation of pattern inspired by mathematics, physics or nature, as in this case. A dress created entirely from recycled and non textile materials: wooden scraps and bark. A piece of wearable design, created with raw bark and small tiles of semi worked balsa wood sorted by color, a visual and tactile experiment to emphasize the difference between the phases of processing of the material. Below some of the steps of realization of the garment.
