As I mentioned in yesterday’s post about
White, as well as the more or less famous brands, only interested to go along with buyers and very unwilling to anyone who approaches with a camera, there also have been good surprises. One of these is certainly
Steven Tai, a young talent winner of the first ChloĆ© Award, who struck us for his willingness, enthusiasm and above all for his works. The spring/summer 2013, which we present today, is his debut collection. The influence comes from his love for books, which he reinterprets through the many layers that make up his clothes, surprisingly soft to the touch and light despite the amount of tissue used in each piece, for an effect that tends to recreate the flow of pages. Intellectual and self-declared nerd, Steven seeks to elevate the “bookworm” to the catwalk. The end result is rather minimal and sculptural, despite the extravagant use of materials. The processing of the fabric creates tridimesionali textures that add a modern and contemporary twist to the classic lines of the garments, building a sort of soft armor around the silhouette.
