Among the pleasant surprises of the
London Design Festival this year we can definitely include the line “Coppiced hazel furniture” presented at Tent London by British designer
Sebastian Cox. Local materials and traditional techniques are the basis of his latest collection of sustainable furniture, simple and elegant pieces that, through a wooden harvesting in forestry derived from a weighted exploitation of natural resources, re-live on in other forms and functions. Lamps, chandeliers, coat racks, chairs and tables designed with simplicity, where the natural beauty of the wood characterizes and radiates the structures with colors, smells and shapes. After having admired, breathed and touched his works, we can safely say that Sebastian Cox doesn’t create furniture, but elaborates the nature, moulds it and works with love and passion, re-contextualizing and transforming it into furniture.
If you want to peek at his design techniques and better understand his philosophy we invite you to watch the video you can find, as always, below the photo gallery.
