Tuesday, February 28th I had the pleasure and the honor of being present at one of the most full of expectations catwalks (at least from my point of view) of Milan Fashion Week: the presentation of the three emerging designers of the project N-U-De New Upcoming Designers and the four selected by Next Generation. Mauro Gasperi’s show begins with the notes of a melancholy and sublime Johnny Cash. Active with his eponymous brand since 2008, Mauro is a upholder of Made in Italy, both for production and for the choice of fabrics. Entering N-U-De project, Mauro had the opportunity to show his collections as well as in Milan, also in Tokyo, Moscow, Kiev and Berlin. A brand focused on knitwear, fresh and young but highly connotative and recognizable, present not only in Europe, but also in Asia and North America. For the collection A/W 2012-13 Mauro imagine a Metropolitan medieval, dominated by the play of lines, shapes, diagonal cuts, made of chain mail. References to the Middle Ages are even more evident in headgear, reminiscent of those worn by knights. The colors range from black, often used by the designer, to dove, pistachios green and the warm rust.
