Lara Khoury fall/winter 2012

The young designer Lara Khoury (born 1985) is a native of Lebanon, and still lives and works in Beirut. Lara decides to establish the brand that bears her name between 2008 and 2009, after a work experience of a couple of years at Elie Saab, where she comes in contact with the world of Haute Couture. Her first collection was launched in 2010 and since then the career of Lara is still growing. The fall/winter 2012 collection, “Gluttony”, is a blaze of volumes. Everything is oversized: the gauzy tulle skirts, cut to form asymmetric edges games, to the outerwear, huge coats that seem to come straight out of a men’s wardrobe, the dresses, the tops, pants, men-style shirts. By contrast, the range of colors is very simple: black, blue, white and nude colors. A conceptual collection taking elements of street style, emphasizing and elevating them to the rank of catwalk pieces.
