Sometimes I find it hard to talk about local projects, maybe because I try to avoid being too benevolent, or simply for the difficulties found in research of small and emerging designers studies. Today I’m happy to show you some of the products developed by “
Acquacalda“, that we had the pleasure of meeting during the
Salone Satellite in Milan, a project team based in Turin, which operates under the field of experimental design, making use of design as applied art. An example of their philosophy is definitely the series of projects of geometrical inspiration, simple objects realaborated in a clear and explicit synthesis between shape and function. Mediopiccolo, which bases its operation on the volume ratio between cone and cylinder. A glass for bottled beer with the double capacity, that may contain in an alternative way two different amounts of liquid (33cl and 66cl), simply reversing the orientation. Diversamenteuguale, a tray, a knife and a slice-ruler that form a wooden cutting set for serving cakes, pizza and other dishes, designed on the basis of the triangle-medians relationship. Following the cutting lines specially designed, it’s possible to create slices with different shape and appearance but quantitatively identical. Poliedro, a white ceramic container, the result of subtraction of two regular tetrahedra from a cube, which due to its rotational asymmetry, changes shape and function according to its orientation.
