Everything comes from the idea of the Danish artist Mark Nors Arnesen aka Snor to create an original cover illustration for “Little White Lies” (a bimonthly independent publication for movie lovers) that represented the main character of one of the films released during 2011. The choice was “Drive”, the film directed by Nicolas Winding Refn and based on the novel by James Sallis. A noir thriller shot amongst breathtaking races and bloody violence, and starring a lonely and silent car pilot, stuntman and driver for robberies in his spare time, masterfully played by Canadian actor Ryan Gosling. “
DRIVE in toothpicks” portrays the protagonist of the film emphasizing the particular of the toothpick that hung to his mouth, an incredible work of art, a mosaic with 8000 toothpicks combined together by hand, that takes life after seventy hours spent between scissors, glue and a lot of patience. Below is the video documentary with all phases of design and creation.
