By now you may probably know, the news spread, since yesterday, on practically every blog: the next big name in fashion that will collaborate with the low-cost fashion giant H&M will be Versace, certainly one of the most influential and legendary fashion maisons. The few previews of the clothes that H&M included in the press release are quite promising: leather, studs and iconic prints of the brand, in a mood visibly reminding the golden years, between 80′s and 90′s. Despite the reticence that Donatella Versace showed up a few years ago (“I respect everyone who does it, but the reason I didn’t do it is because I work very hard to put the Versace line in the luxury section. I think to put the Versace line in H&M would confuse the brand.”) in the end even the blonde goddess capitulated. The collection is already making big buzz, fueled by the picuters of the gown that Donatella herself wore during men fashion week, dress that is part of this capsule. I’m never 100% convinced by these collaborations (but I could always change your mind …). If, on the one hand, can be an opportunity to grab a piece of high fashion at an affordable price, to get closer to an unattainable dream, I think, on the other side, that high fashion, as a dream, should remain as such: one thing to yearn for, capable, when you reach it, to give satisfaction and the consciousness of holding in your hands for something with a value that goes beyond the cloth itself, a piece of fashion history. In any case, the collection will be released November 17 in 300 selected stores, closely followed by another pre-spring collection on January 19. So get ready: as for the previous collaborations, war is expected!
