We introduce the autumn/winter 2012 collection “Ephemeral Memories”, by fashion designer Rupal Patel, graduated at Central Saint Martin’s, like many other creative we showed before. A series of six outfits, presented as final work, with a processing and a story that I dare call poetic. The ephemeral memories to which the title referes are held in family portraits from the 50′s taken in Africa, as well as the work of German photographer Sigmar Polke. Through a technique formerly used by Sigmar, the designer manipulates the photographs, the starting point to create the patterns of her clothes (you can better understand from the images’ details). In addition to the evocative patterns, this capsule is also characterized by the mix of different materials, such as the silk shirts and wool structured coats, and the use of warm colors, such as ocher shades, punctuated by touches of brighter colors, like turquoise and blue. Overall a lovely collection, born from a professionally mature mind (although the designers is only 23 years old).
