With the heat of these days (in Italy, at least) is hard to believe that September is almost here, and fall/winter collections will soon take the place of micro-shorts and tank tops. But in the world of fashion is automatical to think a year in advance, and in this sense I can even admit I’m late. For the moments of transition between the two seasons, I introduce “Dog”, the new collection of QooQoo, an emerging brand of Latvia, which made its first appearance at Riga Fashion Week in March 2010. DOG is a seemingly simple collection, consisting of only dresses, leggings, tees and skirts, that hides an all-accomplished research; each piece produced by QooQoo is in fact created by hand in every detail, from the design of the colorful patterns (fashion designer Alyona Bauska has a background as a graphic), to the realization of the tissues. The name of the collection itself comes from a funny project that involved the brand’s followers on Twitter, who sent photos of their dogs, which were then merged to create the pattern of a funny “doggy” dress. The collection is already for sale on the website or
here, and since each piece is custom made, waiting times range from 5 to 10 working days. Amazingly, despite all this work in the creation of each piece, prices are kept very affordable. A brand to watch out.
